Black Honey Unveils New Album ‘Soak’ with Stanley Kubrick-Inspired Aesthetic

Black Honey, a British indie band, has announced plans for their fourth album, titled “Soak,” which will be released on August 15. The album marks the band’s first full-length release since 2023’s “A Fistful of Peaches” and is expected to be shaped by a Stanley Kubrick-inspired aesthetic, similar to their previous albums which drew inspiration from cult film directors. The band’s vocalist, Izzy B. Phillips, has stated that “Soak” is a personal reflection on the band’s experiences, particularly their decade-long touring and creative endeavors. In a quote, Izzy said:
“‘Soak’ is me processing a decade of touring and creating music and art as an addict. It’s me picking at the layers of messy, romantic, confusing, woozy, beautiful and fucked up things. Who I thought I was, who I was supposed to be and who looks back at me now are all so different but I’m kind of here for it.”
The album will feature 12 tracks, including the previously released “Psycho” and the newly shared “Dead,” a psych-rock anthem that incorporates lyrics inspired by the film A Clockwork Orange. The tracklist is as follows:

  1. Insulin
  2. Dead
  3. Psycho
  4. Carroll Avenue
  5. Soak
  6. Sad Sun
  7. Shallow
  8. Drag
  9. Vampire In The Kitchen
  10. Slow Dance
  11. To The Grave
  12. Medication
  13. Dead
