Worthington High School ensembles to present concert

The Region 2AA Large Group Contest Concert

The Worthington High School music department is excited to host the Region 2AA Large Group Contest Concert, an event that brings together the top ensembles from the region to showcase their musical talents. The concert will take place on Saturday, March 11th, 2023, at 7:00 PM at Worthington High School.

Featured Ensembles

  • The Worthington High School Marching Band will perform a selection of literature from the pre-approved Minnesota State High School League concert list. The Worthington High School Concert Band will perform a variety of repertoire, including works by renowned composers such as Beethoven and Brahms. The Worthington High School Jazz Band will perform a selection of jazz standards and original compositions. The Worthington High School Choir will perform a cappella arrangements of popular songs and classical pieces. The Worthington High School Vocal Ensemble will perform a cappella arrangements of popular songs and classical pieces.

    This piece is a beautiful and intricate arrangement of the original 18th-century composition, showcasing the ensemble’s technical skill and musicality. The program will also include a performance of “The Four Seasons” by Antonio Vivaldi, arranged by Elizabeth Green, which will be performed by the WHS Orchestra.

    The Varsity Strings Ensembles

    The Varsity Strings Ensembles will kick off the concert with a stunning performance of Johann Stamitz’s “Sinfonia in D”. This arrangement, crafted by Elizabeth Green, is a masterful reinterpretation of the original 18th-century composition. The ensemble’s technical skill and musicality will shine through in this intricate and beautiful piece.

    The concert band will also perform a medley of popular songs, including a rendition of the classic hit “I Will Always Love You” by Whitney Houston.
