Born and raised in Lawrence County, Kentucky, Tyler Childers was exposed to country music from a young age, thanks to his coal mining father. Childers started playing music in his teens, and by 19, he released his debut album, Bottles and Bibles, a collection of heartfelt country songs that showcased his unique voice and perspective.

In 2017, Childers released his breakthrough album, Purgatory, co-produced by fellow Kentuckian Sturgill Simpson.
